I’ve wanted to contribute back to open-source projects for a long time, especially the ones I’ve used heavily in my professional career. A friend introduced me to Hacktoberfest a few years ago, but I never got around to actually participating.
I’m committed to starting with Hacktoberfest this October to kick off my open-source contributions (and hopefully meet like-minded devs in the community along the way). As I was browsing their site, I just so happened to notice a link that needed updating, so I figured, why not make this my first contribution? So I opened an issue on their github and was able to open a PR the same day to close it out! It was a quick win and broke the ice for this new endeavor.
Sometimes starting small is all you need to build the confidence to take on the next challenge! See you at Hacktoberfest (:
